Vegetation Management Analyst (R-19-1092)
As a Vegetation Management Analyst, you will assist in the management of vegetation in proximity to electrical facilities to promote resiliency of transmission services. This support is in the form of developing, maintaining, and improving our digital work management systems and integrating digital solutions to improve our operations. You will also be responsible for field reviews and ensuring that our field personnel and contractors have the training and support necessary to realize the efficiencies that come from digital work interfaces.
Assesses client mapping needs and creates or instructs others to create geospatial data and products. Determines which cartographic standards to apply and ensures products meet both user needs and industry standards. Publishes geospatial information and products to users through hardcopy, electronic or web-based technologies.
Supports the overall administration of the geodatabase. Troubleshoots database performance issues and errors. Decides which to escalate. Monitors information in the database and ensures data meets quality standards. Works cooperatively with GIS developers.
Recommends and performs digital configuration changes to meet identified business needs. Supports or implements system upgrades with internal Vegetation Management staff and external contractors.
Analyzes client data needs and selects appropriate queries or reports. Determines whether data meets quality standards and decides best method to present to end users.
Maintains department cartographic standards. Develops or maintains map templates and stored displays. Researches and resolves production issues.
Responds to user questions and provides mapping expertise and information.
Performs safety audits. Conducts scoping. Analyzes risks and prioritizes jobs according to urgency and location.
Reviews contract crew performance against PGE standards and specifications. Monitors crew productivity to ensure PGE is receiving benefits for vegetation clearance expenditures relative to statement of work. Adapts tree pruning practices as needed to optimize resource use.
Ensures work meets all applicable standards, regulations and agreements. Reviews new standards, regulations and agreements and identifies potential impacts.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledge of forestry processes and procedures.
- Knowledge of regulations impacting vegetation management
- Knowledge of Geographical Information System (GIS) applications and ESRI software
- Knowledge of vendor management principles
- Demonstrated skills in critical thinking, including analysis and problem solving
- Demonstrated skills in using database and documentation tools
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in earth science, geographic information systems (GIS), horticulture, geology, forestry, natural resources or similar field or equivalent experience. Typically, two or more years in vegetation-related career fields, including vendor management and project management.
Certifications, Licenses and Training
ISA Arborist Certification and ISA Utility Specialist credential preferred and required within twelve months of obtaining position.
