The UAA is proud to present Dr. Robert Vanderhoof with this honor in recognition of his outstanding contributions, dedication, and impact on UVM education.

Dr. Robert Vanderhoof has been a dedicated educator to UVM professionals for more than 15 years.

Jessica Tomaszewski, a former UVM Program Manager and current Forestry Instructor at UW-Stevens Point, submitted a nomination to recognize Dr. Vanderhoof for his longtime advisement and instruction.

“Dr. Vanderhoof is a key facilitator and contributor to the UAA/UVMA Pro-UVM Program,” Tomaszewski says. “He has successfully facilitated seven courses since the program’s relocation to UW-Stevens Point in 2020, and played a pivotal role in revising the Pro-UVM Scope, Cost, and Procurement course.”

Dr. Vanderhoof also provides critical training as a certification specialist for Tall-Tree Learning, LLC., where he helps students prepare for and pass the ISA Arborist and Utility Arborist Specialist exams. Colleagues praise Dr. Vanderhoof for offering the most comprehensive certification test preparation available. His structured, interactive approach challenges students, ensuring they master the subject matter and approach the exam with confidence. The impressive success rate of his students speaks volumes.

Dr. Vanderhoof obtained his Ph.D. from the College of Forest Resources at Mississippi State University in 1995. With 15 years of experience as Florida’s Deer Management Section Chief, he expertly coordinated range management activities across the state’s extensive seven-million-acre wildlife management area system. In 2004, his outstanding contributions earned him recognition from the Florida Chapter of the Wildlife Society for “Extraordinary Vision, Leadership, and Dedication” in natural resource management.

For over a decade, Robert served as a Utility Vegetation Supervisor for PaciCorp, overseeing service territories in northern Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming. His wealth of management experience significantly contributed to the company’s success.

An ISA Board Certified Master Arborist and Certified Utility Specialist, Dr. Vanderhoof’s proficiency extends to technology applications in natural resource management, as evidenced by his numerous published articles. Widely regarded as an expert in the field, he is a sought-after speaker on utility vegetation management.
