Voting is Underway for the UAA Board Election

Voting has begun, directly shaping the future of the UAA!

Eligible UAA members are casting their votes for the 2026 Board of Directors from Wednesday, August 5th through Wednesday, August 19.

“Less than a week into the 2026 Board election, member engagement is strong,” said Cody Woodward, UAA Membership Coordinator. “We are ahead of where we were at this point last year with votes cast so far. It’s a great sign of how our members are invested in shaping the future of UAA’s leadership. We’ll soon surpass 2025’s total turnout.”

As a UAA member, you have a direct role in shaping the association’s future. Take advantage of your voting privileges and help select the board members who will lead the organization in the years ahead.

Check your email for an official member ballot to participate or visit the UAA voting page.

If you already voted, thank you!

Successful Start for First-Ever UAA Combo Event

Last month, 78 utility professionals gathered in Dayton, Ohio, for the inaugural UAA Midwest Regional Meeting & Safety Summit. The new combined event format brought together utility vegetation management and safety professionals for education, networking, and discussions on industry best practices.

A key highlight was the flexibility the event offered. Attendees could participate in the Regional Meeting, the Safety Summit, or both, allowing them to customize their experience while earning CEUs and building valuable connections. The format also created greater opportunities for sponsor engagement.

Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and plans are already underway for another Midwest Regional Meeting & Safety Summit in 2027.

Many thanks to the sponsors who helped make this event possible:

  • Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC (Diamond)
  • Townsend Tree Service (Platinum)
  • Kendall Vegetation Services (Gold)
  • Xylem Tree Experts (Gold)
  • Davey Resource Group, Inc. (Utility Host)
  • Duke Energy Corporation (Silver)

The UAA Western Regional Meeting & Safety Summit is the next combination event on the calendar, in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, November 2 – 4. We look forward to continuing the momentum in Lake Tahoe and beyond.

Earn ISA CEUs with New Online Quizzes

Utility arborists and tree care professionals have two new opportunities to earn ISA Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through the UAA Member Portal.

The latest CEU quizzes are based on recent Utility Arborist Newsline content and cover two timely safety topics:

  • Hooked on Distraction
  • An Arborist’s Exposure to Electric Injury
  • Shared Responsibility in Modern Utility Rights-of-Way

To prepare, participants can read the associated article, watch a video, or listen to a podcast before completing the quiz.

These new offerings represent the revival of a previous CEU opportunity, while also serving as the foundation for an expanded CEU program. Starting with the May/June 2026 Safety issue of Newsline, up to three CEU quizzes will be featured per issue, providing even more opportunities for professionals to earn credits while staying current on important industry topics.

Log in to the UAA Member Portal to access the quizzes, earn CEUs at your convenience, and invest in your professional development and safety knowledge.

New Research Directory Opens Doors to Scientific Collaboration

The TREE Fund and ArbNet have introduced the Arboretum Research Partner Directory, a new resource created to foster collaboration between researchers and ArbNet-accredited arboreta and gardens.

The directory currently features more than 70 accredited arboreta and gardens that have indicated their willingness to be contacted about potential research opportunities on their properties. This resource helps expand access to research sites while supporting accreditation requirements across various ArbNet levels.

By strengthening connections between practitioners and researchers, the directory hopes to advance tree and landscape research while creating valuable opportunities for scientific collaboration.
