As UAA’s Events Coordinator, Crystal Arp is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing all events—from conferences and webinars to workshops and special meetings.
“I work closely with staff, volunteers, and partners to ensure each event aligns with our mission and provides real value to our members,” Arp says. “It’s a lot of logistics, communication, and creativity rolled into one!”
Arp joined the UAA team in March of this year.
“It’s been busy in the best possible way. From day one, I jumped into planning mode, learning the ropes while also preparing for upcoming events. Everyone has been so welcoming and supportive, which has made the transition smoother—and fun! It already feels like I’ve been part of the team much longer than a few months.”
So, what’s the best part about working for UAA so far?
“Without a doubt, it’s the people. Everyone here—staff, board members, volunteers, and our broader membership—is deeply passionate about what they do. That passion is contagious, and it makes my job much more meaningful. I also love how the organization is mission-driven. Every event we plan has a purpose.
“I really care about making events that aren’t just well-organized, but also warm, inclusive, and genuinely helpful for everyone who attends. I know how much people are juggling these days—work, family, all the things—so I try to plan with that in mind. My hope is that when someone comes to a UAA event, they leave feeling like it was time well spent, and that they walk away with a renewed sense of passion and confidence in what they do.”
When Arp is off the clock for UAA, she is a yoga teacher – an important practice to keep her grounded when she is busy planning UAA events and traveling. Add to that her four kids, three dogs, two cats, and a husband of nearly 25 years, and you will understand why her favorite tree is the southern magnolia.
“Those big, bold blooms are impossible to ignore, and the scent is absolutely incredible—like nature’s own way of inviting you to take a deep breath and relax.”
Be sure to catch up with Crystal Arp at regional meetings, summits, and Trees & Utilities this fall.
“I feel lucky to be part of an organization that’s making a real difference, and I’m looking forward to meeting more members, hearing your stories, and continuing to build something great together.”
