The UAA is proud to recognize Michelle Lejins, Regional Supervisor for Eocene Environmental Group, as the recipient of the 2025 Rising Star Award. This honor celebrates her exceptional dedication, leadership, and significant positive impact on the Utility Vegetation Management (UVM) industry.

Her commitment to the UAA is evident in her extensive volunteer service.

“Michelle is exceptionally dedicated through her countless volunteer hours,” adds Amanda Opp, one of her nominators. “She has consistently gone above and beyond to connect the association with communities and raise awareness about the critical role the UAA plays in the UVM industry.”

Michelle’s most notable contribution is her work as Chairperson of the UAA Outreach Committee, a role she took on in 2023, and hosting the monthly Outreach interview segment for The Utility Arborist Newsline. Through her thoughtful and engaging writing, Opp says, “Michelle has skillfully highlighted the work of industry professionals, shared insights on best practices in tree care, and educated both the public and industry members.” Since becoming chairperson, Michelle has successfully tripled the number of committee volunteers, demonstrating her strong leadership skills and her ability to foster a collaborative environment.

With more than 10 years of experience in utility arboriculture, Michelle has held key supervisory and consulting roles at Eocene Environmental Group, CN Utility Consulting, Wright Tree Service, and Davey Resource Group. Her professional background includes supervising tree crews, managing large-scale projects, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from Cal Poly Humboldt and is an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist and Utility Specialist.

Ben Keck, another nominator with Eocene of the West adds, “Michelle’s exceptional skill, dedication, and passion is evident since joining the UAA in 2018. She is an active member of the Events Committee (serving as Recorder since 2022), has assisted the Trees & Utilities Planning Committee, and helped plan a UAA Safety Summit in California.”

Michelle Lejin’s technical expertise, commitment to industry collaboration, and focus on sustainable vegetation management truly embodies the qualities of a rising star – who is just getting started on making a lasting impact in our industry.
