Lucas Beane built and defined his career through service and a forward-thinking approach to vegetation management. It’s why he was honored with the 2025 Utility Arborist Award, which celebrates his technical skill and the “steady leadership” required for a profession to move forward.

Beginning as a utility supervisor at Lucas Tree Experts in 2006, Lucas has advanced to Chief Operating Officer (COO), consistently demonstrating a commitment to advancing the profession by fostering safe practices, strengthening teams, and encouraging the adoption of new technologies.

“I am amazed at how far we’ve come as I approach nearly 20 years in the UVM industry,” Lucas recalls. “I’m fortunate to work for a company where we continue to push what is possible with technology, innovation, safety, and strong culture. I am proud to work at Lucas Tree Experts and I’m looking forward to where we and this industry are headed.”

While his professional work has improved outcomes for utilities and the public, Lucas’s influence is most visible through his volunteer leadership with the UAA. As the Chair of the Events Committee, Lucas has been the driving force behind the regional gatherings and training opportunities for the association.

“Lucas has demonstrated exceptional commitment and dedication to the UAA,” says Brandon Hughson, past president of the UAA and Lucas’s nominator. “His is instrumental in organizing numerous regional training and networking events, which are crucial for the professional development of UAA members.

“His dedication extends beyond event planning. Lucas has consistently shown a passion for promoting best practices in UVM, contributing to the overall mission of the UAA. His leadership and organizational skills have been pivotal in this success.”

Despite his busy schedule balancing industry leadership and professional responsibilities, Lucas remains grounded by his passions outside of work.

“I enjoy my time with my wife and two daughters, hunting, fishing, and I’m still in there swinging in the slow pitch softball leagues,” Lucas says.

The UAA is honored to recognize Lucas Beane as a leader, an innovator, and a dedicated advocate for the professional growth of utility arborists everywhere.
